The Story Behind the Duffel Bag Project
The fabulous girls in the photo above created the Half a Million Kids Club at Academy of Notre Dame in Villanova, PA. While the girls were learning about the frightening details of the foster care system, specifically how children are shuffled from home to home with often nothing but a trash bag for their belongings, they created this fundraising initiative. The girls wanted to provide the foster kids with a gift of more comfort and security, so they created the Duffle Bag Project. This duffle bag includes a pillow, a blanket, and a $100 gift card or some serious swag for their bag. We hope to give these kids something to take what little they have from home to home in a more dignified fashion.
This fundraising initiative ties to the Half a Million Kids 501c3 mission: to place every child in the foster care system into a permanent and loving home. Read more about our mission at www.halfamillionkids.org.
We are so excited to announce The Notre Dame girls sponsored their first 60 bags to CB Community School, a school with 60 foster kids attending!
We are now starting our next round of duffles for 100 more foster kids! Please help support them by sponsoring a bag for these kids!
**If you would like your name to be included as the sponsor, please note that or choose to stay anonymous**
When we exceed 100 duffle bags, your donation will go towards the next round of 100 kids who will be receiving duffles! Our plan is to reach thousands of foster kids!
