The Story Behind the Duffel Bag Project

he fabulous girls in the photo above created the Half a Million Kids Club at Academy of Notre Dame in Villanova, PA. While the girls were learning about the frightening details of the foster care system, specifically how children are shuffled from home to home with often nothing but a trash bag for their belongings, they created this fundraising initiative. The girls wanted to provide the foster kids with a gift of more comfort and security, so they created the Duffel Bag Project. This duffle bag includes a pillow, a blanket, and a $100 gift card or some serious swag for their bag. We hope to give these kids something to take what little they have from home to home in a more dignified fashion.

This fundraising initiative ties to the Half a Million Kids 501c3 mission: to place every child in the foster care system into a permanent and loving home. Read more about our mission at www.halfamillionkids.org.
